Doctor Strange 2 director walks out on Marvel Studios

AJ Armento, Staff writer

Recently, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson left Marvel studios due to creative differences.

The Doctor Strange sequel is set to come out on May 7th, 2021, but with the director walking away from Marvel, it’s hard to say whether it will be done on time to make that release date. Loren Gagnon, ‘21 said that “it depends on how much was already made.”.

This could be a problem because the Disney + show Wandavison is set to lead into the Doctor Strange sequel.

If you’re wondering if there’s a title for the sequel the title of the sequel is Doctor Strange into the Multiverse of Madness

There have been talks that they are talking to directors to take over.

There is one name in particular that has been thrown around: Sam Rami, who of course directed the first Spiderman trilogy way back in the early 2000s. He has been rumored to be chosen to direct the film, but Rami has not confirmed or denied this and neither has marval as of yet but we will probably get  some confirmation some time soon.

Gagnon said the he thinks “Sam Rami is a good replacement as long as he keeps the movie along the same lines he doesn’t see why he wouldn’t be”

As of now, there are not going to be any delays which confirms that they may already have a director in mind.

In October of 2015, Rami was in an interview with the week talking about how he was upset with how his run with spiderman ended and expressed interest in making another spiderman someday he said ,“I messed up on the third one”.”I think they’re so complete now, Marvel. They probably don’t need me now. But if they need me? I’d love to. It’s great to be wanted”.

5 years later they are looking for a new director for the Doctor Strange sequel so he’s perfect but like i said before nothing confirmed.

If you’re a Doctor Strange fan and you’re excited for the sequel like I am, clear your schedules for May 7th, 2021 to see this sequel when it comes to theaters.
