When Disney’s new streaming service launched on Nov. 12, 2019, it was announced that the service will be getting their own exclusive Marvel tv shows. Marvel is such a huge company that entertains millions of people with super heroes and action. The first set of Disney Plus exclusive Marvel tv shows will be released this year. It is reported that there will be only two new Marvel tv shows coming to the service this year: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson, along with Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. The show is said to answer the questions that many people may have after seeing Captain America retire his shield to Sam Wilson, also known as the Falcon, during Endgame. The show will also include the return of Baron Zemo, played by Daniel Bruhl, as the villain. Zemo was last seen imprisoned in Captain America: Civil War.

When Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier, was last seen on screen, he was getting help from the people of Wakanda to help save him from being brainwashed by the evil institution Hydra. The people of Wakanda also gave Barnes a new and improved vibranium arm. Since Barnes is now in his right mind set, the show will most likely focus on him trying to do normal everyday things.

There are a few people who have been mentioned to be working on the show. First is writer Malcolm Spellman, who is known for producing the hit Fox series Empire. Second is writer Derek Kolstad, who is known for creating the John Wick franchise. Lastly is director Kari Skogland, who is known for directing Fifty Dead Men Walking. The show is set to be released this year in Autumn.

On Jan. 1, it was announced on Disney Plus’s twitter account that WandaVision will be released this year instead of Spring 2021. There still isn’t any information of what the show will be about, but it has been stated that Vision will somehow be brought back after his death in Avengers: Infinity War. Also, the show is said to  have a 1950’s setting.

Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff, along with Paul Bettany as Vision. Although there isn’t a lot of information for the show yet, it has been said that it will revolve around the relationship between the characters. Olsen has stated that the show will also explain the origins of how her character gains the name Scarlet Witch. Some of the stars have considered the show to be a sitcom, stating that the show is “bonkers.”

There are a few people to mention for making this show. First is writer Randall Park, who is known for playing Louis Huang in ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat. Second is writer Kathryn Hahn, who is known for playing Lily Lebowski in NBC’s Crossing Jordan. Lastly is director Matt Shakman, who is known for directing the seventh season of Game of Thrones.

Although there are only two new Marvel tv shows coming to Disney Plus, both of the tv shows seem to have a lot going for the fans. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will give fans the answer to who will be the next Captain America. WandaVision will reveal why Wanda Maximoff will be called Scarlet Witch. WandaVision will also reveal how Vision will come back. If Marvel fans aren’t excited enough, there are a lot more Marvel tv shows coming to Disney Plus within the next couple years including Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Loki, What If…?, and many more.
