The Cayman Islands are known for their clear blue water. These secluded islands have breathtaking views and warm weather all year round. Weather stays consistent at about 84° and partly cloudy everyday.
If you are planning to visit the Cayman Islands, you will need your passports because it is a British Territory. They are located off the south end of Cuba in the Caribbean Ocean. The islands are very small, someone could drive from one end to the other in about 30 minutes. Additionally, since the island is British Territory, locals drive on the other side of the road. If you are renting a car, you may have to remind yourself to stick to the left.
There are many activities to do here, from scuba diving, to swimming with stingrays. You can find company’s all up and down the streets in Georgetown that can take you out and about, wherever you would like to go.
The water around the island is very shallow; and, if you go out into the ocean far enough, the shallow water collides with the deep water creating huge waves. Since the water is so clear, the conditions are perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling. There are coral reefs found right off the shore, that house millions of fish and if you’re lucky a sea turtle swim might swim right up next to you.
The prettiest part of the island is Seven mile beach. On this side of the island, there are huge, extravagant homes and some of the nicest hotels around. Hotels like the Ritz Carlton and the Westin cost up to $3,500 a night. There are many more affordable places to consider when picking a place to stay. There are many condos and houses you can rent, that have just as nice amenities and views.
Currency on the Island is in Cayman dollars, which is a form of pounds, the United Kingdom’s currency. One Cayman Dollar is equal to $1.20 USD, which means that everything costs more than what it seems.
Restaurants on the island can also get very pricey. Most meals cost from 10 to 35 Cayman dollars. You can find places that have decent priced meals, but they are not as common. There are tons of restaurants right on the ocean that have views looking out on the sea like VIVO Cafe Restaurant, which has many unique vegan and vegetarian meals, and Rackam’s, which has decently priced meals.
Overall the Cayman Islands are an amazing place to visit, and if you get a chance to go, you should take the opportunity. It is very family friendly, and a perfect place to escape from your everyday hectic life.
