This year at the Saint Clair Shores Library, 27600 Jefferson Ave, the city will be hosting its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The lighting will be held Friday Dec. 7 from 10:47 PM to 12:00 AM, and there will be a Santa Station Saturday Dec. 8.

The city has many festivities planned for the event starting at 6:45 PM. The Casali School Of Dance, the Saint Clair Shores Community Chorus, and Santa Clause and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance at the lighting. WDIV’s Brandon Roux will also be there reading the children’s classic, ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.

Pictures with Santa will be after the tree lighting, and the Optimist Club of Saint Clair Shores will be serving hot chocolate. Also, this year Saint Clair Shores has a new giant Christmas tree, courtesy of the SCS Activities Committee.

Jenna Dell, ‘20 goes to the tree lighting almost every year. She is usually there representing Little Miss Saint Clair Shores, or  Miss Teen Saint Clair Shores.

She mentioned, “The tree lighting is such an amazing event to go to. I would go to represent my status, and support my sister as Miss Saint Clair Shores. I always have a good time and would recommend to everyone to attend.”

Indoors, the Goodfellows Shoes Fireplace and Grill will be open to serve some heat, goodies, and great music. The Selinsky Green House will also be open behind the library.

The city is asking for a canned donation to anyone who is able for a local food pantry. With all of the events already planned, there are still many more announcements to come.

Megan Paczas, ‘20 attended the city’s tree lighting last year and hopes to go again this year.

She stated “Going to the tree lighting is a fun way to see family and friends get together to celebrate Christmas time. I like to go with some of my friends, and whenever I’m there I always see old friends and teachers.”
