Girl scout cookie season is among us, folks, marking the end of the New Year’s Resolution season. From Thin Mints to Tagalongs to Samoas, there’s certainly a cookie for everyone.

Everyone likes girl scout cookies; it’s American culture. Have you ever realized packages aren’t resealable? It’s because everyone eats an entire box in one sitting with no shame. After eating a box of Thin Mints, you won’t feel thin at all.

They’re made by two different bakeries. There’s one in Kentucky, Little Brownie Bakers, and one in Richmond, ABC Bakers. The cookies are ultimately the same regarding taste, but have different names. For example, instead of Tagalongs, they’re called “Peanut Butter Patties.”

Cookies are sold by Girl Scouts at local establishments such as grocery stores. It’s not uncommon for these little girls to crush your heart and guilt trip you until you agree to buy a box. Don’t even try telling them you don’t have cash on you, because nowadays, they take card.

Truth is, however, most people would do just about anything for a box. It’s a luxury, since they’re only sold during the midwinter. Boxes go for about four dollars, but some Lakeview students are willing to pay more.

“On a scale of 1-10 of how much I love girl scout cookies, I’d say like a 20. I would pay $15 for a single box,” said Claire Parenteau, ‘19. That’s a dollar a cookie, versus the current 26 cents a cookie.

Junior Alex Raffin, thin mint enthusiast, said, “One time me and Josiah Jackson bought four boxes just to make a cake. It was just a cake of Thin Mints, for no reason.”

Get your boxes while you can! The girls stop selling them in a few weeks, and these cookies will not be back until next January.
