From March 12-15, Lakeview girls interested in playing softball can try out for the 2018 team. Tryouts will be from 4-6pm at Lakeview on the 12th and 15th, and at the Macomb Community College fieldhouse on the 13th and 14th.

There is a sign up sheet in the office on Mrs. Goodwin’s desk for anyone interested.

The teams aren’t just looking for girls with experience, so all are welcomed to tryout.

Lakeview’s team is always full of great girls who are happy to have new members.

Jessica Schneider, ‘20 was on the junior varsity team last year. She believes Lakeview has a great team.

Schneider stated, “I like playing softball for Lakeview because I’ve played softball for a long time and I love being able to represent the school. Also, I like Lakeview’s team because it’s fun to practice and play games with girls who I know and get along with.”

High school sports are a great opportunity to meet new people, make memories, and improve your athletic ability. Even if you haven’t played before, your team is there to help you grow throughout the season.

Former player, Breanna Wasil,‘19 encourages all girls who are interested to try out.

“You should try out for softball because it’s a great group of girls and it’s good to be on a team. You get those fun bus rides everyone talks about, and you get a bond with the coaches, and the players,” voiced Wasil.

Making it on the team isn’t as easy as just showing up for tryouts. You will have to prove that you are willing to work with the other girls and try your hardest on and off the field.

Alexandra Chernisky, ‘20 also played on the JV team last year and shared what she thinks it takes to make it on the team.

Cherninski explained, “I think it takes passion and commitment. You have to love what you are doing. You also have to be a team player and understand that people make mistakes.”

Playing a sport isn’t just about games and scores, it gives you the chance to learn how to be a part of a team and work with new people. Spring sports are great because they allow you to spend time outside in the warm weather. Lakeview has great athletes who welcome all to play. You have to be willing to put in effort, and take advice from the team. Lakeview’s softball team is full of awesome people who are looking for new members to join not only their team, but their family.

Tryouts starts the 12th, don’t forget to bring your physical!
