Anyone who have ever played or watched sports at Lakeview knows the familiar voice of Bill Bullaro. Bullaro has been the sports announcer for over 25 years.

Growing up, Bullaro’s daughter and two sons were very involved with sports. After watching his children play sports at Lakeview, he became involved in coaching. In ‘91 and ‘92 he was the assistant boys basketball coach. Later he took over coaching the junior varsity baseball team in ‘93, and in ‘98 became the freshman girls basketball coach.

Bullaro is the announcer for a broad range of sports including football, volleyball, wrestling, and basketball. He got the opportunity years ago when someone offered the job to him, and he has been the perfect fit ever since.

Having his grandchildren grow up in the school district and play sports through Lakeview has been a rewarding part of his job. He stated, “It is such a great feeling getting to announce for my granddaughter Alicia- all my grandkids for that matter. I am very proud to be able to go to all of their games.”

Alicia Bullaro, ‘18 stated, “It’s really special having my grandpa announce my games because he’s one of my biggest supporters, and I know that it means a lot to him to be able to call my name.”

She continued, “I’d say the most important game of mine that he announced was at a Friday night football game, when I was in the dogpound, and he congratulated me over the speaker for being the quarterback for powderpuff. I know he was probably more excited than I was.”

Athletes at Lakeview also love Bullaro announcing their games.

Senior, Michael Nadon, who has played basketball for four years stated, “I really like that Alicia’s grandpa is the announcer because you can tell he gets into the game just as much as us kids playing.”

Senior, Erika Kirkland, who has played basketball and volleyball for four years agreed with Nadon. She added, “I love Mr. Bullaro being the announcer. He is also very good at calling the kids by the right name and announcing what the refs called.”

Bullaro hopes to be the announcer at Lakeview for as long as he can, and stated, “I am very proud of all the athletes that I get to announce for here at Lakeview.”
