With Thanksgiving coming up, many teachers are preparing for the rush of cooking and baking that comes with it.  Even if they are not having a big party, most of the teachers are planning on making some kind of Thanksgiving dinner.

Lakeview History teacher Paul Goike said,  “ As I’ve gotten older and my kids have gotten older, we have less mouths to feed because my kids and grandkids go to different households.”

Although Goike does not plan on eating Thanksgiving dinner with anyone other than his wife, that does not mean that he will not be celebrating.

“ Well you just have to take one look at my physique and you know we’re gonna have a big turkey,” stated Goike.

Many people have very big parties for holidays, which is just the case for Lakeview math teacher Megan Zimmerman.  The amount of people planning on eating will affect the demand for food greatly, because you never want to send anyone home hungry on Thanksgiving.

“There will probably be about 12-16 people.  We do a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, a vegetable, some type of bread or roll, and a bunch of desserts of course,” stated Zimmerman.

Having to make that much food for a large group can be very time consuming.  Although it may seem strange to those who do not cook, many people start preparing certain aspects of their meal days before Thanksgiving.

“Two days before we pull out all the bread to get it stale so we can make the stuffing,” said Zimmerman.

This time consuming process can be very difficult for some people’s schedules.

Zimmerman stated, “None of it is really hard, it’s just very time consuming.”

Goike also commented saying, “I really don’t think there’s any aspect that is very hard, but it does take time.”

Most Lakeview teachers are well prepared for the rush of Thanksgiving cooking and hope to have a great holiday season.
